As reported in The Journal Record (Nov. 22, 2011), demand for office space, both in Tulsa and Oklahoma City experienced stable market conditions during the third quarter as vacancy rates slightly decreased in both cities.
REIS Inc.’s third-quarter market report states that Tulsa experienced the largest decline in vacancy compared to Oklahoma City as it fell to 19.9 percent, down from 20.4 percent in the second quarter. REIS forecasted that the decline in vacancy should continue in 2012 and steadily decrease over the next three years. The decline in vacancy proved positive for rental rates as office rates increased on average by 0.3 percent during the quarter.
